All aspects of construction and remodeling can impact the environment and painting is no exception. We often use hazardous chemicals like paint and lacquer thinner and we can create an awful lot of waste including paper and plastic sheeting used for masking and used paint containers. Furthermore the very products we use can contaminate the air we all breathe. What to do? At Seegers Painting we are fully committed to doing our part to minimize the negative impact our work may have on the environment and have taken the following steps.

* As of 2008 we are certified by Envirostar and have received a three star rating. We have earned this designation by our proven commitment to the proper handling and disposal of all potentially hazardous waste materials as well as our ongoing effort to use less environmentally harmful products at all levels from VOC free paints to green cleaning products.

* We have also made it our goal to reduce solid waste sent to the local landfill by no less than 80%. In order to do so we have partnered with Northwest Recycling to handle all of our recyclable solid wastes. This includes all paper and plastic sheeting used for masking and used paint containers.

* Given our choice we use low or no VOC product when painting interiors. Although more expensive, these products protect our employees and customers from harmful chemicals.

* Seegers Painting purchases carbon credits to offset the carbon footprint created by the use of our work vehicles.
